                         Lost in Space (1998)
The special effects are good, with lots of action and surprises.  Any true sci-fi fan will love the initial sequences.

Unfortunately, an attempt was made to update the cultural climate from the 60s to the late 90s.  This means a disfunctional family and lots of male-bashing.  A full variety of negative stereotypes about men are paraded throughout the full length of the movie.

The only true parents in the family are the women and they are regularly disrespectful  toward the childish men.  You will hear sarcastic phrases like "cut the testoserone", and will see men lacking the self-esteem to answer back.  This is the sort of movie where booing is acceptable.

The plot is campy and the costumes could have come from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy".

If you are looking for action and good special effects and can stomach the feminist agenda then this is the movie for you.
