| | Seabiscuit (2003) This is a true story about an undersized, underdog horse that recovers from injury and goes on to win many prestigeous races of the 1930s.
The historical backdrop of the great depression and the theme of coming back after suffering huge setbacks, makes this much more than just a horse movie. You don't have to be a horse race enthusiast to love this movie.
The movie drags a little near the end and the plot is fairly predictable in places. Still, it is a very enjoyable and heart warming family film. A times it almost jerks a tear as the viewer follows the highs and lows of the characters. It comes with a PG-13 rating, due to some violent and sexual scenes.
Jeff Bridges does a fine job, as usual, in the starring role.
If you ever root for the underdog or you like a feel-good movie with some real depth, then I highly recommend this film. - Paul G. |
